Real Property: Fort Hancock Buildings

Barracks buildings 23, 24, 25

Building-specific information is located via the Real Property tab to the left. Below you will find general information concerning the buildings to be offered for lease through adaptive reuse.

Vacant Buildings Proposed for Adaptive Reuse (July 2014) -This list contains the buildings currently under consideration for leasing. List includes historic use, year of construction, square feet and proposed use in Fort Hancock's rehabilitation. (This list has changed over time, with some buildings being taken off and others added.)

RFEI FAQs - This document was shared with attendees to the November 14, 2013 Open House. It provides answers to many frequently asked questions (FAQs). More detailed questions are answered in the document below.

Questions from November 14, 2013 Open House - This document may or may not have the most up-to-date information. If you have a question, please contact us.

1999 Fort Hancock Rehabilitation Guidelines - While this document was NOT written for the current effort to save Fort Hancock, it contains a great deal of information about specific buildings at Fort Hancock as well as an overview of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. Due to its size, the report is broken down into halves: Part One and Part Two.

Environmental Assessment: Adaptive Use of the Fort Hancock and Sandy Hook Proving Ground Historic District - Another report from the last effort to save Fort Hancock. This report was first published February 2002 and revised July 2003. Like the other report, we have broken it into parts to be able to post it: Part One, Part Two and Part Three.

Cultural Landscape Report for Fort Hancock: Treatment Plan - This 2006 report by the National Park Service details landscape rehabilitation goals and principles as well as existing conditions (for 2006) and landscape treatment recommendations. Even today it provides a wealth of useful information. Keep in mind that a previous effort to preserve Fort Hancock was in effect at the time and that some of the recommendations in the report are now obsolete: Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four and Part Five.
