1999 Fort Hancock Rehabilitation Guidelines - While this document was NOT written for the current effort to save Fort Hancock, it contains a great deal of information about specific buildings at Fort Hancock as well as an overview of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. Due to its size, the report is broken down into halves: Part One and Part Two.
Environmental Assessment: Adaptive Use of the Fort Hancock and Sandy Hook Proving Ground Historic District - Another report from the last effort to save Fort Hancock. This report was first published February 2002 and revised July 2003. Like the other report, we have broken it into parts to be able to post it: Part One, Part Two and Part Three.
Cultural Landscape Report for Fort Hancock: Treatment Plan - This 2006 report by the National Park Service details landscape rehabilitation goals and principles as well as existing conditions (for 2006) and landscape treatment recommendations. Even today it provides a wealth of useful information. Keep in mind that a previous effort to preserve Fort Hancock was in effect at the time and that some of the recommendations in the report are now obsolete: Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four and Part Five.
